Gold partnership delivers for NSW education

Feedback from the Gold Industry Group backed Australian Earth Science Education program in New South Wales has been fantastic since its launch in May, with the program delivering much needed support to teachers and secondary school students through free services, training and resources.

Since the Program began, the website has launched providing a host of new Earth and Environmental Science materials tailored to the Australian Curriculum, including classroom activities, case studies, videos and articles.

Gold education program returns

The Gold Industry Group’s National Gold Education Program has recommenced this term, after delivery of its dynamic gold sessions and unique Gold Resources Kits were temporarily postponed due to the national COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

Teachers in Western Australia can now book a free gold session for their class, and schools nation-wide can order a free Gold Resources Kit via the online platform.

Foodbank WA is one of three essential Western Australian community organisations to receive part of the $9.1 million in funding from WA resources companies, as part of the COVID-19 Community Support Initiative set up by the Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia.

Foodbank WA’s key response to the impacts of the coronavirus was to provide Emergency Food Relief hampers to those struggling the most.

Newcrest backs new Australian-made ventilator to combat COVID-19

Newcrest Mining Limited has joined the effort to boost Australian manufacturing and tackle COVID-19, by contributing A$200,000 to the production of a new low-cost Australian-made ventilator.

The OzVader ventilator prototype, which has been developed by Australian company Olitek, is in the final stages of performance and validation testing. Olitek is seeking Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration exemption to manufacture and supply the ventilator.

Newcrest partners with university for COVID-19 vaccine

Newcrest Mining Limited has announced a A$1 million contribution to support cutting edge COVID-19 vaccine research in partnership with the University of Queensland (‘UQ’).

The funding has been made by Newcrest as part of its recently launched A$20 million Community Support Fund and will be specifically deployed to support UQ’s ground-breaking ‘molecular clamp’ technique to develop a vaccine for COVID-19.

The Gold Industry Group and member Earth Science Western Australia have united to bring support for Earth and Environmental Science education to New South Wales secondary school students, in an innovative approach through online learning.

This builds on the existing partnership between both organisations, who have been collaborating on furthering gold education since early 2018.

Lifeline WA is one of three essential Western Australian community organisations to receive part of the $9.1 million in funding from WA resources companies, as part of the COVID-19 Community Support Initiative set up by the Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia.

Lifeline WA will ensure that the 13 11 14 service is available to all Western Australians throughout the course of COVID-19.
