This year’s 30th Diggers & Dealers Mining Forum was hailed one of the biggest yet, attracting more than 2500 delegates to hear mining’s growth stories in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, despite having no overseas visitors for the second year running.

Attendance could have been greater at the nation’s largest mining forum with Western Australia having no event restrictions, however due to COVID-19 lockdowns over east preventing many from traveling to the State, several companies presented virtually as thousands streamed the event online.

Goldfields shines at WASMA ball

All that glittered was gold on Saturday night at the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Racing Club, as another year of graduates from the WA School of Mines were celebrated amongst 450 industry representatives at their annual Alumni Ball.

Traditionally held in Perth, hosting the ball for the first time in the Goldfields was the brainchild of the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s Mayor John Bowler, who wished to align it with the City’s celebration of 125 years since gold was first discovered in the area.

The WASM Wallabies will compete in the Intercollegiate Mining Games Competition (ICMC) in Montana next month thanks to proud sponsors in the community including Ramelius Resources and Gold Fields Australia.

Commonly known as the Mining Games, the competition was established in 1978 in memory of the 1972 Sunshine Mine disaster in Idaho.
