Royal Flying Doctors Service receive vital funding from gold companies

Ramelius Resources have recently provided support to the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Western Australia (RFDSWA) to purchase Hamilton T1 Ventilators that have equipped a fleet of 18 aircraft to provide the best respiratory support to patients.

RFDSWA Head of Medical Robert Radici said the Hamilton Ventilator is a significant piece of equipment and provides the same functionality as a ventilator you’d find in a hospital.

Norton Gold Fields reach new heights for charity

A team of Norton Gold Fields employees embarked on a thrilling adventure last month, abseiling 40 storeys down Western Australia’s highest single pitch building to raise awareness and much-needed funds for Lifeline WA.

Norton Gold Fields’ raised just over $5,800 in funds for Lifeline WA from Norton Gold Fields, Rivet Mining Services, BKay Pty Ltd, and family and friends.

Newmont’s COVID-19 fund assists Aboriginal community

Newmont has provided much-needed assistance to the South West Aboriginal Medical Services (SWAMS) as part of the company’s COVID-19 Global Community Support Fund.

Newmont’s support of SWAMS, through the company’s COVID-19 Global Community Support Fund, includes a donation of more than $30,000 and 300 flu immunisations for use in the community.

Lifeline WA is one of three essential Western Australian community organisations to receive part of the $9.1 million in funding from WA resources companies, as part of the COVID-19 Community Support Initiative set up by the Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia.

Lifeline WA will ensure that the 13 11 14 service is available to all Western Australians throughout the course of COVID-19.

Resources sector donates millions to community

Gold miners have joined with the resources sector in Western Australia to donate more than $9 million to the Royal Flying Doctors Service, Foodbank and Lifeline.

The COVID-19 Community Support Initiative set up by the CMEWA, has so far received much needed funds from Gold Industry Group members AngloGold Ashanti Australia, Gold Fields, Gold Road Resources, Newcrest Mining, Newmont Australia, Northern Star Resources, Ramelius Resources, Regis Resources and Saracen Mineral Holdings.

Gold partners with MERC in Perth

The Gold Industry Group (GIG) is proud to be the Industry Partner of the ninth annual Mining and Emergency Response Competition, held in Perth from 22 to 24 November 2019.

The GIG will provide two free mental health workshops, courtesy of community partner LIVIN, to almost 200 emergency response personnel, event marshals and volunteers.

Gold industry unmasks for mental health

As proud Platinum Sponsor of LIVIN WA’s annual charity ball, the Gold Industry Group joined representatives from Newmont Goldcorp Australia, Gold Fields, Newcrest Mining and Gold Road Resources to raise awareness and funds for mental health.

The ‘unmasked’ theme encouraged the hundreds of attendees to break the stigma around mental illness.

Newcrest ride to Telfer for mental health

Six Newcrest Mining Limited employees banded together to embark on an epic 2,246 km bike ride from their Perth office to the Telfer operations, raising awareness and funds for mental health.

Funds raised went to the WA Disabled Sports Association and Beyond Blue, helping to make a difference in the lives of those affected by anxiety, depression or suicide.

IGO on a mission to nourish our country

More than 40 Independence Group (IGO) employees became OzHarvest volunteers, assisting the for-impact organisation in its mission to ‘Nourish Our Country’ by helping to deliver over 110 tonnes of food to people in need across Western Australia during November.

Over four weeks IGO volunteers assisted the OzHarvest WA van operators to pick-up and drop-off an incredible 111,549 kilograms of surplus produce, which was then delivered to 80 charitable agencies across Perth and the greater metropolitan area.

To coincide with Mental Health Week, our community partner LIVIN were proud to design, implement and unveil the first of their billboards in an awareness campaign across Central and Northern Queensland.

Released across several locations, the first eight billboards are part of LIVIN’s commitment to spread mental health awareness throughout areas which don’t necessarily have the same access to resources that are available in capital cities.

Macmahon names "The Hulk" as mental health ambassador

Mining contractor Macmahon Holdings engages retired mixed martial artist, Soa “The Hulk” Palelei as an ambassador for its Strong Minds, Strong Mines mental health program.

The program was launched in March 2018 with toolbox talks delivered to around 800 workers across Macmahon’s Western Australian operations.  It has since been extended to reach more than 1500 workers Australia wide.

GIG to spread mental health message in partnership with LIVIN 

The Gold Industry Group (GIG) is pleased to announce a new community partnership with mental health charity LIVIN, aimed at raising awareness of mental health and changing the way the mining industry and society understands, perceives and interprets mental illness.

We are coordinating a GIG LIVIN Tour with members and the Goldfields community next month, from 12-19 June.
