The Hamersley Comets had a remarkable day in the Gold Industry Group WANL Finals Day, securing two premierships.
In the Open Division, the Comets claimed their maiden title by defeating the reigning premiers, the Western Roar, in a closely contested match that ended 52-48.
The Comets took control of the game in the final quarter, thanks to the stellar performance of goal defence Ella Taylor, who made multiple intercepts and broke the game open.
Sloan Burton, the Comets' goal attack, was named the Most Valuable Player for her instrumental role in linking the centre and defensive thirds while scoring 15 goals.
Despite a late surge from the Roar, the Comets managed to hold on, securing the historic victory.
Not stopping at that, the Hamersley Comets' 20/U team went on to clinch their club's first-ever piece of silverware in the Gold Industry Group WANL.
Facing the Southside Demons in the 20/U decider, the Comets displayed dominance throughout the match, ultimately triumphing with a 60-49 victory.
Jamaica Jauncey, with an exceptional haul of 50 goals, was deservedly named the Most Valuable Player. Alongside her Captain Madeleine Ash, playing her 50th game for the Comets provided a safe pair of hands in the shooting circle. The Comets' centre Clara Wigley and wing attack Honey Harrington set the tone for their team's success, establishing control in the centre third.
Despite some shaky moments, the Comets regained their composure and lifted the trophy in the end.

Meanwhile, in the Men's Division of the Gold Industry Group WA Netball League, the Western Roar secured their second consecutive title, triumphing over the West Coast Warriors in a thrilling match that ended 56-53.
The game was intense and highly competitive, with the Warriors consistently responding to the Roar's attempts to break away. Scores remained level at halftime after numerous momentum shifts. In a pivotal moment during the third quarter, the Warriors faced adversity when their goalkeeper was sent off for two minutes.
However, the Warriors' goal defence, Ian Brady, put in a tremendous effort, staying competitive against the Roar's attack.
With just minutes left on the clock, the Roar's Grand Final MVP, Dylan McPherson, made a critical intercept in the midcourt while transitioning from goal defence to goal attack, sealing the victory for his team.
With this win, the Roar secured their third premiership, equalling the Warriors as the most successful men's side in the competition.
Overall, the Gold Industry Group WANL Grand Final Day was a complete success, fans saw an incredible display of talent, determination and sportsmanship as the Hamersley Comets celebrated the rare achievement of double champions.
