The Gold Industry Group is proud to announce the renewal of its landmark partnership with Netball WA, West Coast Fever, and Shooting Stars, marking the largest-ever commitment by Australia’s gold industry to women’s sport.
This three-year, $6 million extension will deepen the Gold Industry Group’s role as a Principal Partner of Netball WA and elevate it to joint Principal Partner of West Coast Fever, strengthening a relationship that has supported netball in Western Australia for the past six years.
This commitment not only doubles the Gold Industry Group’s previous investment but also ranks among the biggest contributions to women’s sport in Australia. Announced today at the Gold Netball Centre, the announcement was celebrated with excitement by both the gold industry and the netball community.
At the event, Gold Industry Group Chair Kelly Carter highlighted how the partnership reflects the gold industry’s values of inclusion, community, and female empowerment.
“This partnership is about creating lasting, positive change in the communities where we live and work,” said Ms Carter.
“With this renewed investment, we aim to amplify the incredible work that Netball WA is doing to foster inclusivity and community through sport, ensuring that every young person in WA has the opportunity to play, dream, and reach their potential.”
This milestone investment wouldn’t be possible without the dedication and support of funding members Northern Star Resources, AngloGold Ashanti Australia, Gold Fields, Ramelius Resources, Gold Road Resources, Bellevue Gold, and The Perth Mint. Together, these members are not only contributing to a successful future for WA netball, but also reinforcing their commitment to making a difference in the communities where they operate.
Netball is not only the state’s leading female participation sport, but it’s also a cultural touchstone that brings people together across Western Australia’s towns and cities - particularly in regional WA, an area where the gold industry is strongly rooted.
“Strengthening this sport helps strengthen our regional communities, which is important for everyone in WA,” said Ms Carter.
Over the years, Australia’s gold industry has contributed to a range of programs that range from grassroots initiatives to elite competition levels. Through this collaboration, the gold industry has helped power the West Coast Fever’s recent successes and fueled the transformative Shooting Stars program, which empowers young Indigenous women to build confidence and leadership skills.
Ms Carter said the partnership also strongly aligned with the gold industry’s commitment to enhancing pathways and leadership opportunities for women.
“The gold industry works hard to create pathways and opportunities for women to thrive in the workplace. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to breaking down barriers, supporting female leadership, and fostering inclusive communities across WA.”
Simone Hansen, Chief Executive Officer of Netball WA, expressed her gratitude for the continued partnership: “Netball WA, West Coast Fever and Glass Jar Australia are thrilled to be able to continue our strong partnership with the Gold Industry Group for a further three years.”
